I’m under the age of 18 and was wondering what/if any STI tests can I receive for free?

Great question!

Lets talk a little bit about STIsSTIs can be a very real risk for people if they are engaging in certain types of sexual contact. It’s good to know that when it comes to STIs there are four modes of transmission.  They are…

  • Blood
  • Sexual Fluids (Semen and Vaginal fluids)
  • Skin to skin contact
  • And Mother to Child (Breast milk and Vaginal Delivery)

In order for someone to contract an STI, they would need to engage in sexual activity with a person who already has an STI in which one or more of these modes would come into play.

Teen Clinic can test for all STIs and It’s also important to know that not all STIs are not tested for the same way. For example STIs like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can be tested through a urine sample.  And STIs like HIVSyphilis, an Hepatitis B can be tested through a blood sample.  It would be important to have a conversation with  your clinician about what kind of testing you may need.

If someone is 17 or under all of our services are free. If someone is 18 or 19 our services are likely free, or low cost, depending on a person’s income. Nothing is ever more than $50 at Teen Clinic.
