SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS
You’ve probably heard about them in school… or while talking with your family or friends…they’ve definitely made appearances in movies. Yup, we’re talking about sexually transmitted infections or STIs for short. These infections are transmitted through all types of sexual activity. They can be common, but are preventable, and STIs are either curable or treatable, so read and stay safe!
WHY STI INSTEAD OF STD?
Teen Clinic chooses to use the term Sexually Transmitted Infection instead of Disease. The term disease can imply a clear medical problem with obvious signs or symptoms, however most sexually transmitted infections have no signs or symptoms, so we prefer the word infection.
