… I have had health issues in the past that could cause infertility, but I’m not sure.
Nope! Unfortunately, Teen Clinic does not offer services related to infertility. These evaluations are often very expensive, and it’s just not within our expertise. At Teen Clinic, we focus on preventing unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. We refer patients to other clinics if they are pregnant or concerned about infertility.
It’s a great idea to wait until the body is fully grown before getting evaluated for infertility. Some people don’t ovulate every month, and there is only a small window of time each cycle when pregnancy can occur. In other words, it’s possible you haven’t gotten pregnant simply by chance! Most fertility clinics suggest a medical consultation if a couple has been trying to conceive for a year without success; if you are still concerned later in life, you might use this as your guide. And remember, some people with penis’ are infertile, too.
If you’ve been having unprotected sex to try to become pregnant, spend some time with a trusted adult discussing why you’d like to be a parent. This is a big decision! Becoming a parent requires financial and emotional stability, and can change your life in big ways. Consider making an appointment for an Annual Exam at Teen Clinic. Our practitioners will help make sure your body is healthy, and they can offer support as you decide whether or not this is the best time to try to get pregnant.
