That is a great question! Lets clear a few things up.
Lets talk a little bit about STIs. STIs can be a very real risk for people if they are engaging in certain types of sexual contact. It’s good to know that when it comes to STIs there are four modes of transmission. They are…
- Sexual Fluids (Semen and Vaginal fluids)
- Skin to skin contact
- And Mother to Child (Breast milk and Vaginal Delivery)
In order for someone to contract an STI, they would need to engage in sexual activity with a person who already has an STI in which one or more of these modes would come into play.
Teen Clinic tests for all STIs but it is important to know that not all STIs are tested for the same way. For example, STIs like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can be tested through a urine sample. And STIs like HIV, Syphilis, an Hepatitis B can be tested through a blood sample.
So while there is not a test that will test for all STIs, if there is something you want to get tested for you can make an appointment, talk to a clinician and they will give you lots of information and answer any questions you might have.
