I have been on the pill for about a year now…..

I take it roughly the same time and I have not missed a pill. He came inside of me. Is it necessary to take Plan B?

When someone starts a new hormonal method of birth control (like the pill) they need to use a back up method (like condoms or practicing abstinence) for one week before that method will be effective.

After that first week, the hormones will be integrated into the body and can help prevent pregnancy up to 99% (even if ejaculation occurs in the vagina) when taken correctly. In order for The pill to be effective, a person needs to take the pill every day at the same time.

If you are taking the pill at the same time, the pill is 99% effective, but you can still choose Emergency Contraception an an option, which can be taken up to 5 days after and is more effective the sooner it is taken. Emergency Contraception works by delaying ovulation- when the egg is released from the ovary.
