It is important to say that pregnancy is possible whenever sperm comes into contact with the vagina. Even if ejaculation did not occur, there is still the risk of pre- ejaculate. Although pre-ejaculate doesn’t itself contain sperm, it can pick up left over sperm in the urethra when it leaves the body, creating a risk for pregnancy
In terms of knowing if pregnancy occurred, the only way someone can know if they are pregnant is to take a test at least 14 days after the most recent sexual contact. The result can be trusted at this time.
A barrier method, like a condom, can reduce the risk of pregnancy and STIs up to 98%! It is a good idea to use a barrier method when engaging in sexual activities.
It would also be a good idea to use a form of birth control when engaging in sexual activities. Some forms can reduce the risk of pregnancy up to 99%!
