I’m on the contraceptive pill but haven’t taken it for a couple of weeks now. My boyfriend ejaculated inside me. What are the chances I could be pregnant?

The birth control pill is an effective form of hormonal birth control. An important part of this though is that in order for the pill to be effective, it needs to be taken at the same time every day. If the pill is taken at the same time every day, it will be up to 99% effective in preventing pregnancy!

Because you have been off of your pills for a couple of weeks, you are not protected from pregnancy at all. The only way the pill would be effective is if you’re taking it at the same time every day. If you miss more than a few days, you are no longer protected.

If you are finding yourself forgetting to take your pill often, it may be a good idea to think about using a different hormonal method. There are several other hormonal birth control methods that are very effective. You can check those out here.

Because your partner ejaculated inside of you, you are at risk of pregnancy. You can take a pregnancy test 14 days after unprotected sex to get an accurate result.
