Me & my boyfriend have unprotected sex all the time….

…. but I’m on the pill. If he ejaculates in me and I take my birth control pill the next morning will I get pregnant?

If someone is taking birth control pills correctly, consistently and all of time they are protected from pregnancy up to 99% for the entire month. The birth control pills elevate the hormones to prevent ovulation – when an egg is released from an ovary – each month.

Remember, the pill is up to 99% effective when taken correctly and consistently. Some questions someone on the pill may want to ask themselves when wondering if they are taking the pills correctly might be:

  • Am I taking the pill at the same time every day?
  • Am I missing or skipping any pills?
  • Am I starting my new pack of pills when I’m supposed to?

So if someone is taking their pill every day at the same time, and never misses a pill or is late, they are 99% protected from pregnancy.

Remember, hormonal forms of birth control do not reduce the risk of STIs. Only condoms and dental dams can do this.
