My boyfriend and I were rubbing our private parts together, we both had underwear and shorts on…

…Is it possible that semen could have gotten on my clothes and I could get pregnant?

Great question! The risk of you becoming pregnant from this activity is very low risk. Sperm can live outside of the body, but only for up to a few hours. Technically, pregnancy is possible any time semen can get into the vagina. If you and your partner both had clothes on and there was never semen near the vagina, you should not be at risk of pregnancy.

It is a good idea though to consider birth control methods if you are planning on engaging in sex where pregnancy may be possible. Teen Clinic offers free or low-cost birth control methods. Make an appointment to talk with a health care professional and see what method might work for you!

Teen clinic also recommends using condoms and dental dams during oral, vaginal, and/or anal sex to help prevent the contraction of STIs. Teen Clinic offers free or low-cost STI testing and treatment!
