I was wondering if I can get my Nexplanon removed here ?

Yes! Someone can have their Nexplanon removed at Teen Clinic.

It is recommend that someone refrains from unprotected sex 5 days before their appointment. If there was unprotected sex during those 5 days there could be a risk of pregnancy once the Nexplanon is removed.

At Teen Clinic,

If you are 17 and under:

  • You can receive services on a donation basis! This means you will not be charged for your services, and donations are greatly appreciated, but not required.

If you are 18 or 19:

  • You can receive services for on a donation basis or for a low cost.

Can I buy condoms if I’m only 14, and can I buy plan b pills??

Great question!

In the state of Colorado there isn’t an age restriction to buy condoms or Emergency Contraception over the counter.  In some places, Emergency contraception may be between $40-$50.

Teen Clinic also offers these materials as well. Anyone can walk into Teen Clinic to pick up condoms for free.

If someone wants to get Emergency Contraception at Teen Clinic they have a couple of options.  They can get it for free if they have already been a patient. In order to be a patient at Teen Clinic someone needs to make an appointment to see a medical provider.

If someone has never been a patient (and maybe doesn’t want to) they can get Emergency contraception for $20.

How do I get birth control when I’m 13?

Great question!

At Teen Clinic, we offer services for anyone of the ages 19 and under. This would include starting birth control. If someone is 17 and under, our services are donation based. This means a person would not be charged, but they can leave a donation if they want!

It is  important to know that in the state of Colorado, the law says that minors have the right to access any sexual healthcare without the consent or notification of their parents. That means they can start a birth control method, get tested for STIs, or get any other sexual healthcare without their parents being involved at all. In fact, it’s illegal for clinics to share sexual health information with parents (or anyone else!) without an individual’s permission.

With that being said, Teen Clinic encourages teens to have a trusted adult in their life that they can talk to about their sexual health- whether it be a parent, a teacher, a coach, or an aunt or uncle. But we also understand that teens might not have someone they can talk to.  Many teens bring their parent or guardian with them to their appointment, but it is not required!

If someone wanted to start birth control, they would need to make an appointment to have a consultation with one of our providers. From there, they would discuss the different birth control options, and which method may be best for them.

Am I able to get the birth control pill from you? Or do I have to go to my doctor?

While you could potentially get the birth control pill from your doctor, you can also get it from us at Teen Clinic!

Someone can make an appointment at Teen Clinic and get started on any birth control method (including the pill).  During your appointment, your clinician will talk with you about your personal medical history as well as your family medical history. Then together, the two of you can discuss which method might be best for you. Then, the clinician will give you a prescription for the method you decide on.

If you are under 18, all of our services are donation based.  This means we will not charge you for our services. Donations are encouraged but not required! If you are 18 or 19, Teen Clinic will base the cost of your visit on your income or however you are supporting yourself financially. So it could be donation based, or a very small fee.

Do I have to make an appointment to get a pregnancy test? And are they free?

Someone can buy pregnancy tests over the counter. There is no age restriction. Using a store bought pregnancy test is just as effective as a urine pregnancy test offered at a clinic.

However if someone wants to come to Teen Clinic for a pregnancy test they will need to make an appointment.

When can I take a pregnancy test?

Good question!

The earliest that someone can take a pregnancy test is 14 days after the sexual contact.  At that time someone will get an accurate result.  If someone takes a pregnancy test before the 14 days, they may not get an accurate result and would want to take another test once it has been 14 days.

Someone can buy pregnancy tests over the counter. There is no age restriction and they are just as effective as long as it has been 14 days.

If, however, someone wants to make an appointment to take a pregnancy test or to discuss birth control or anything else they can give Teen Clinic a call at 303-442-5160.
