We’re here for LGBTIQ-youth!
At Teen Clinic our policy of providing safe, confidential and non-judgmental services applies to everyone. We know that our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning or Intersex patients might feel uncertain about seeing a nurse practitioner. That’s why several of our clinicians are trained to understand the unique needs of LGBTIQ youth. For LGBTIQ youth who are looking for social support or other health services (like help quitting smoking) we can link you to LGBTIQ youth-friendly services and provide referrals where you will be treated with kindness and respect.

When we provide Community Health Education services to the general population, we use language that includes people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and biological sexes. But our specialized curriculum can meet the specific needs of LGBQ* youth who are negotiating safer sex in an “abstinence-only” world. We provide LGBQ youth with affirming messages and realistic options for avoiding unexpected pregnancy and unwanted STIs and HIV.
*Transgender and Intersex are purposely left out here because they do not refer specifically to sexual orientation. Currently, the most competent curriculum available are tailored for LGBQ youth and do not speak to the unique needs of transyouth.
